An elderly person’s ability to care for himself will usually decline gradually. Deciding what level of help is required at any precise point in time can be difficult. Experts advise caretakers to watch for significant shifts in behavior. Things like missed appointments, unpaid bills and a lack of interest in favorite activities may be causes for concern. These should prompt a reevaluation of an elderly loved one’s level of care.
